OHP Troop E Investigating
Troopers with Oklahoma Highway Patrol Troop E were notified around 6:54 a.m. and are leading the investigation into the death, as reported by KTUL. Investigators have not released any information about a possible suspect vehicle, and an official cause of death has not been announced while the scene is being processed.
Highway Context and Tips for Witnesses
U.S. 69 has seen multiple crashes in Bryan County in recent years, including earlier multi-vehicle wrecks that temporarily shut down parts of the highway, according to local coverage. KXII has documented prior collisions along this stretch of road. OHP Troop E, which covers Durant and nearby communities, is coordinating the current investigation. Anyone who may have seen anything or has relevant information is asked to contact Troop E at (580) 924-2601, according to local listings.
Legal Note
If investigators confirm the pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and the driver left the scene, Oklahoma law classifies leaving the scene of an accident that results in death as a felony offense, which can bring prison time and fines under state traffic-law summaries. Authorities have not announced any charges, and the case remains under investigation.
The investigation is ongoing, and officials are asking anyone with video or additional tips to contact OHP Troop E headquarters. KTUL has reported that more details will be shared as they become available.
