An 18-year-old who investigators say was behind the wheel in a crash that struck five people on Airport Road in Everett in November 2024, killing three of them, has been arrested in Los Angeles after a months-long search. The U.S. Marshals Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force took the suspect into custody on March 9, 2026, according to Everett police. He faces multiple criminal counts tied to the collision and is expected to be returned to Snohomish County for booking.
Arrest in Los Angeles
According to Lynnwood Times, the U.S. Marshals Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested the suspect in Los Angeles on March 9, 2026. Everett officials said he is being held in California while arrangements are made to return him to Snohomish County for booking. Authorities described the capture as a coordinated, multijurisdictional effort that brought together federal, state and local partners to track the teen across state lines.
The November crash
The collision happened just before 12:45 a.m. on Nov. 9, 2024, in the 11700 block of Airport Road after officers say the vehicle fled an attempted traffic stop and then lost control. Three people were killed at the scene, and two women in their 20s were hospitalized with serious injuries. The Snohomish County Medical Examiner later identified the people who died as Jonathan Anderson, Nicholas Faix and Heather Sullivan, as reported by HeraldNet.
Victims and response
The crash rattled neighbors and first responders. Witnesses described a chaotic scene and said several people ran from the vehicle after it came to a stop. In the days that followed, a vigil sprang up near the convenience store as families and community members gathered to mourn the loss and leave candles and messages. Initial on-scene reporting and hospital transports were covered by local crews and fire officials, according to KIRO 7.
Suspect, weapons and charges
Everett investigators say the driver was a juvenile at the time of the collision and later fled to California. Police also determined that an 18-year-old occupant discarded a fully automatic handgun while fleeing the scene. That occupant was arrested and charged in early 2025 with unlawful possession of a machine gun and a large-capacity magazine. The suspect taken into custody Monday faces three counts of second-degree murder, two counts of vehicular assault and one count of hit-and-run (death) and will be booked into the Snohomish County Jail, per Lynnwood Times.
Legal next steps
Because the driver was under 18 when the crash occurred, state rules require a hearing to determine whether the case should be handled in juvenile court or transferred to adult criminal court. RCW 13.40.110 outlines the decline hearing process and the standards for moving a juvenile case into superior court in serious violent cases, per RCW 13.40.110.
Prosecutors in Snohomish County will arrange extradition and file formal charges as the suspect is returned. Anyone with information about the November 2024 crash is asked to contact Everett police via the department tipline, which was set up after the collision and remains the best way to share leads, as reported by HeraldNet.
