A fast-moving fire ripped through two third-floor units at the Studio 6 motel on the West Freeway in White Settlement yesterday, forcing a chaotic evacuation that displaced roughly 150 residents and left several people injured, according to officials. Firefighters rescued at least one person who was trapped and treated other residents at the scene before releasing them. Two police officers were also taken to a hospital to be evaluated for possible smoke inhalation.
Blaze Engulfed Third-Floor Units
Fire crews raced to Studio 6 at 7888 West Freeway after reports of flames on the third floor. The fire engulfed two third-floor units and triggered a mass evacuation across the motel, as reported by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. The American Red Cross is now helping displaced residents with shelter and basic resources while hotel staff and city crews work to secure the site. One resident was taken to a hospital with minor burns, and other people were treated at the scene and then released.
Officials, First Responders Weigh In
Christopher Cook told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, “Both officers are doing well and are in good spirits.” First responders credited quick action for keeping injuries limited and said they are continuing to account for residents. The Tarrant County and White Settlement fire marshal's offices are leading the investigation into what sparked the blaze.
Investigation Underway
City officials said investigators will release more details once they are confirmed, and the motel will remain closed while fire-scene examinations continue. In the meantime, displaced residents are being routed to temporary shelters and caseworkers, and crews are working to remove hazards and secure the property. Authorities are asking anyone with information or video of the incident to contact White Settlement police or the fire marshal's office.
