With measles cases ticking up across the country and spring break trips on the calendar, Pasadena health officials are telling residents to double-check their vaccination records and, if needed, get protected before they hit the road.

The Pasadena Public Health Department is steering would-be travelers to its Travel Vaccine Clinic, which offers destination-specific vaccines, blood titers to confirm immunity, and on-the-spot International Certificates of Vaccination. The idea is simple: sort out your shots before your itinerary puts you in harm’s way from measles and other preventable illnesses.

How Pasadena's travel clinic works

The Travel Vaccine Clinic runs on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. It is on the second floor, Room 2130, at 1845 N. Fair Oaks Avenue, and takes both walk-ins and appointments, according to the Pasadena Public Health Department.

There is a $26 clinic visit fee on top of vaccine costs, and the department does not bill health insurance. According to the Pasadena Public Health Department price list, MMR runs $169, hepatitis A is $160, and a typhoid injection is $150. The list also notes that titers and International Certificates of Vaccination, often called yellow cards, are available.

Why officials are sounding the alarm

The reminder from Pasadena comes as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports 1,136 confirmed measles cases in the United States as of Feb. 26, 2026. The agency urges travelers to see a health care provider four to six weeks before departure; two doses of MMR are about 97% effective at preventing infection.

State officials are echoing that message. The California Department of Public Health says 26 confirmed cases had been reported statewide as of March 2, and is urging Californians to make sure their immunizations are current before they travel.

What travelers should do

Travelers who are not sure whether they are protected can get a titer test or an MMR dose at the Pasadena Public Health Department clinic and, if needed, receive an International Certificate of Vaccination on site. Residents are advised to call (626) 744-6121 before heading in to confirm that the necessary vaccines are in stock.

Appointments can also be scheduled online through the Pasadena Public Health Department, and walk-ins are accepted during regular clinic hours.
