Milwaukee woke to a cool, clear Monday morning, with temperatures in the upper 40s at Mitchell International. By afternoon, readings will climb into the mid 60s, and a light southerly breeze will keep things feeling mild before the weather turns unsettled later tonight.
Afternoon Warmth, Evening Storm Risk
Skies stay mostly sunny today with a high near 65, then readings slip back into the upper 50s by late afternoon as winds shift slightly. Late Monday night into early Tuesday (March 30–31) there is a slight chance of rain around 9–10 p.m., followed by a better chance of thunderstorms through the overnight hours.
The National Weather Service cautions that a few storms could become strong to severe, with large hail and gusty winds the primary threats, so it is worth keeping weather alerts close at hand tonight.
Tuesday And Midweek: Heavy Rain And A Wintry Switch
Tuesday, March 31 brings renewed chances for thunderstorms and steadier rain, with forecasters calling for about an 80% chance of precipitation and possible totals of a quarter to a half inch. A cold front pushes through Tuesday evening, turning winds northerly and dropping temperatures. Wednesday (April 1) will be noticeably cooler, with gusts around 25–30 mph.
As the colder air settles in, rain may change to sleet and snow Wednesday night into Thursday morning (April 1–2). That mix could create slick spots and impact travel as the workweek winds down.
What To Do For Commutes And Plans
Afternoon outdoor plans look fine today, but have a backup ready for tonight, since brief heavy downpours or hail could force short cancellations or outages. If you commute Tuesday morning on March 31, expect wet roads and slower travel. Wednesday night into Thursday morning may be the trickiest window as temperatures flirt with freezing.
It is a good time to charge devices, secure loose outdoor items, and double-check conditions before heading out.
