Nearly nine months after a late-night crash killed a Milwaukee motorcyclist at a North Side intersection, prosecutors say the driver who took off is finally facing charges.
Jarvis L. Walker, 23, made his initial court appearance on Monday, March 9, 2026, after being charged in connection with a June crash that killed a motorcyclist. Authorities say the collision happened at North 76th Street and West Florist Avenue on June 7, 2025, and that the driver left the scene. Police say Walker was arrested earlier this month after officers tracked him down and linked him to the fatal collision.
Crash footage and complaint details
According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, a criminal complaint says security video shows the motorcyclist had a green light and was traveling northbound on 76th when Walker, traveling southbound, attempted a left turn onto Florist and struck him. The rider was later pronounced dead at the scene.
The complaint also says a witness' cellphone video shows Walker briefly returning to the scene, yelling something, then walking away before getting into another vehicle. It further states that a rental-car customer told police Walker had the vehicle and called to say he had just been in a crash.
Police: high-speed pursuit led to arrest
Milwaukee police say officers located Walker along Marine Drive on March 3. When they approached, he fled and led officers on a pursuit that the department says reached roughly 115 mph and stretched nearly 10 miles before officers ended the chase.
CBS 58 reports police later entered a nearby residence and found Walker inside, arresting him that night as they recovered his vehicle.
Charges and bail
Per court records and reporting by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Walker was charged with four felonies: hit-and-run resulting in death; knowingly operating a vehicle without a valid license causing death; operating a vehicle to flee or in an attempt to elude an officer; and first-degree recklessly endangering safety.
The outlet reports he made an initial appearance March 9 and that bail was set at $25,000, and that the complaint notes the combined penalties on those counts could amount to decades behind bars if he is convicted.
Family remembers the rider
Friends and neighbors described the motorcyclist as a familiar face on the block and said the loss has left the community shaken. In interviews with TMJ4, neighbors called him “very kind,” and one asked bluntly, “You took someone's life. What if it was your kid?” as the family continued to press for answers.
What happens next
Walker remains in custody pending further proceedings and is due back in Milwaukee County Circuit Court for pretrial hearings. CBS 58 reports prosecutors will continue reviewing evidence from the complaint as the case moves forward and investigators say they are still following leads.
