A 15-year-old Mooresville girl is missing after leaving her home Saturday evening, and police are turning to the public for help as concern grows for her safety.
According to investigators, Geidy Garcia Miralles walked out of her Mooresville residence at about 8 p.m. on Saturday and has not been seen since. Her family and detectives with the Mooresville Police Department say they are worried about her welfare and are actively searching for her.
Police description and last known whereabouts
In a post from the Mooresville Police Department, Geidy is described as approximately 5'2" to 5'3" tall, with dark brown waist-length hair and dark brown eyes, and she wears braces. She was last seen in a white or light-colored hoodie with a design, light-colored jean shorts and black-and-white shoes. She was carrying a bookbag and a blue purse when she left home around 8 p.m. on Saturday, police said.
Where she may be and why it matters
Investigators say Geidy may be in the Iredell County or Rowan County area, and detectives have been following up on tips since the missing persons report was filed. The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children reports that in 2024 it assisted law enforcement with 29,568 missing-child cases and helped bring about 91% of those children home, a reminder that most missing-child reports are resolved but runaways can face serious dangers. Research on juvenile runaways also notes that “couch-surfing” with friends or staying in short-term shelters can prolong disappearances and increase vulnerability, which makes quick, accurate community tips especially important.
How to help
Anyone with information on where Geidy might be is asked to call Detective Whalen at 704-420-1036 or the Mooresville Police Department at 704-664-3311, according to the department’s post. If you see her, police ask that you call 911 so officers can check on her welfare and that you avoid approaching anyone who may be with her. Tips can also be submitted through local anonymous tip lines, and family members say they appreciate any leads from the community.
