
A 16-year-old boy from Needham has been charged in the Oct. 13, 2025, Roxbury killing of 61-year-old Marie Molea-Anthony, a shooting that stunned residents of the Mandela Homes housing complex, Boston police announced Wednesday. Molea-Anthony was shot along the 1800 block of Washington Street and later died at a nearby hospital. The teen is facing charges of murder, aggravated assault and unlawful possession of a firearm and is currently being held on unrelated firearms charges. He is expected to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court at a later date.

According to NBC10 Boston, Boston police have not released the teenager’s name, citing his age, and say the case remains under active investigation. The outlet reports the suspect was already in custody on separate firearms charges when detectives sought and obtained the new murder-related charges.

The Boston Police Department says officers responded at about 1:07 p.m. on Oct. 13 to the Mandela Homes complex at 1855 Washington St., where they found an adult woman suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. She was taken to a local hospital and later pronounced dead.
