
Monday turned serious in a hurry at Norman North High School, where a student was taken into custody after staff and law enforcement found a loaded gun on campus. According to district officials, the discovery came after a report that the student allegedly made a verbal threat toward another student, triggering an immediate investigation. The district said the student will not return to Norman North and that criminal charges are pending.
How school leaders and police responded
As reported by KOCO 5, Norman Public Schools said administrators and law enforcement located a loaded firearm in the student's possession and secured the scene. In a statement, the district said that “disciplinary action will be taken in accordance with the district's student code of conduct” and confirmed that the student was taken into custody.
