What LAFD reported
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the incident was logged as INC#0321 and first came in at about 5:39 a.m. Firefighters knocked the blaze down in roughly 11 minutes, keeping it "contained to a boat undergoing repair" inside the one‑story auto‑repair shop. The assignment brought in companies from Fire Station 60, Battalion 14, and several units from the Valley Bureau.
Why repair and marine work can flare up
Repair garages and marine‑service areas often hold flammable liquids, solvents, and other materials that can feed a fast‑moving fire, especially where welding or other hot work is underway. Guidance for motor fuel dispensing facilities and repair garages spells out requirements for ventilation, electrical area‑classification, and fire extinguishers to help curb those hazards, according to NFPA 30A.
Response and aftermath
The department’s alert did not list a cause, and LAFD has not released additional information beyond the initial message. For now, the incident remains classified as "fire out," and crews returned to service shortly after the knockdown. City inspectors or fire investigators could follow up to determine the fire’s origin and assess any lasting damage.
