A quiet North Shorewood evening turned chaotic Saturday when a family dispute escalated into gunfire near 25th Avenue SW and SW 107th Street, leaving one man with an abdominal gunshot wound and prompting a major law-enforcement response. Deputies converged on a residence at the intersection as they worked to secure the scene, while the wounded man was rushed to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.
According to West Seattle Blog, the violence followed a family argument in which a man allegedly shot his brother. Someone initially tried to drive the injured man to a Burien hospital, the outlet reported, but instead stopped and called 911. Medics then took over and transported the victim to Harborview with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
Harborview Medical Center serves as the region’s primary Level I trauma center and regularly handles serious gunshot cases from across Seattle and south King County. UW Medicine notes that Harborview is the only designated Level I adult and pediatric trauma and burn center for Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho.
Police response and investigation
West Seattle Blog reports that the King County Sheriff’s Office led the large law-enforcement response, with deputies focusing on the home where the suspect was believed to still be inside. As of the initial report, authorities had not released the identities of those involved or said whether anyone had been taken into custody.
What we know so far
