Nan Xiang Xiao Long Bao, the New York soup dumpling brand best known for its xiao long bao, is officially setting its sights on Framingham. The chain has tagged 84 Worcester Road on Route 9 as a "coming soon" location, and local filings show the space is slated for renovation ahead of the debut. When it opens, the move will bring Nan Xiang's full Xiao Long Bao concept, rather than the smaller Express outposts already operating in Boston, to the MetroWest crowd. For now, there is still no official opening date.
Where It's Going
The brand's locations page lists "Framingham, MA 84 Worcester Rd" as a coming soon site, according to Nan Xiang. The Framingham spot appears alongside several other in-the-works openings on the company’s U.S. locations roundup.
Who's Partnering Locally
So Lim Ting of Ting Management Group told What Now Boston that his team is partnering with Nan Xiang to bring the original Xiao Long Bao concept to Framingham. Ting and his wife, Yingqi Su, bring more than two decades of restaurant experience to the project, and What Now notes that details are still in the early stages.
How It Fits The Area
Boston Restaurant Talk first spotted the plan after posts in the ChewOnThis community, pointing out that the Framingham location sits on Route 9 across from Shoppers World. Once open, Nan Xiang Xiao Long Bao's full service restaurant will join the brand's existing Express counters in the Boston area and nearby Shrewsbury.
What Nan Xiang Will Serve
Founded in 2006 by Eddie Zheng, Nan Xiang has earned Michelin recognition and built a reputation for Shanghai style soup dumplings, per the company’s site. The menu highlights signature pork xiao long bao alongside crab and pork, truffle and pork, chicken, and vegetable dumplings, and the locations page shows the chain operating across multiple states while rolling out additional sites.
Timeline And Takeaway
An official opening date still has not been announced, and What Now Boston reports that Framingham permits indicate renovation work is already underway at the Route 9 space. For MetroWest diners, the arrival signals a nearby full service Xiao Long Bao experience instead of a counter style Express option, and neighbors can look for a formal opening announcement from the ownership team or the brand once plans are locked in.
