What Police Say Happened

According to FOX 5 San Diego, the driver, a 40-year-old man, stayed at the scene and was not injured. Police told the station the vehicle involved was a 2009 Toyota Yaris and that both the driver and the pedestrian were headed eastbound when the pedestrian, walking in the eastbound left lane, was struck. Investigators with SDPD’s Traffic Division said alcohol and drugs were not believed to be factors in the collision.

The deadly collision adds to a growing list of serious incidents along West Point Loma Boulevard and nearby corridors. Earlier reporting has documented other pedestrian deaths in the area.
