A traffic stop in Camden turned into a high-stakes arrest when detectives pulled over a Toyota minivan and said they uncovered a large supply of suspected cocaine. Behind the wheel, authorities say, was 50-year-old Domitilo Delgado-Ruiz of Reading, a man wanted in Puerto Rico in an attempted-murder case and previously listed among the 10 most wanted in Ponce. He is being held at the Camden County Correctional Facility while officials work on sending him back to Puerto Rico.
Tip-Driven Stop Ends In Cocaine Seizure
According to Daily Voice, Camden County Prosecutor Grace MacAulay said detectives stopped the minivan on Friday, Feb. 27 after getting a tip that the driver was carrying a large quantity of cocaine near Penn Street and North Sixth Street. A search of the vehicle turned up more than 12 ounces of suspected cocaine, and Delgado-Ruiz was charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine and possession of cocaine, MacAulay said. He was taken into custody and remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility pending extradition to Puerto Rico.
Wanted In Puerto Rico, Facing Charges In Camden
Delgado-Ruiz now faces state drug charges in Camden County while prosecutors coordinate with Puerto Rican authorities on extradition tied to the attempted-murder warrant from Ponce. No Camden court dates have been announced, and the prosecutor's office has not released additional details about the Puerto Rico investigation. Officials say the arrest highlights cross-jurisdiction cooperation as detectives continue to process the case.
