Roseville patrol officers arrested a 62-year-old man on Wednesday after tying two thefts of high-end computers to a single vehicle that kept showing up on store surveillance video. During follow-up work, investigators recovered one of the stolen machines and say the case quickly expanded into a search for drugs and ammunition. Police identified the suspect as Kenneth Reynolds of Sacramento.
How officers tracked the suspect and what they found
Roseville police say patrol officers first identified a vehicle linked to thefts of high-end computers at two separate retail locations, then matched the driver’s clothing to what appeared on store CCTV. The following day, officers spotted the same vehicle on Interstate 80 and conducted a traffic stop. A search of the car reportedly turned up more than two ounces of methamphetamine, along with drug packaging materials and a scale.
Detectives then obtained a search warrant for the suspect’s residence and say they recovered methamphetamine, heroin, ammunition, pepper spray and one of the stolen computers, according to City of Roseville, California Police Department.
Charges and booking
According to police, Kenneth Reynolds was arrested by patrol officers and faces multiple counts, including allegations of grand theft and burglary, along with a range of drug- and weapons-related offenses. He was booked into the South Placer Jail. The county corrections site lists the South Placer facility at 11801 Go For Broke Road in Roseville, according to Placer County Corrections.
