A 37-year-old registered sex offender is back behind bars after a Wednesday raid at a Sarasota home, where a multi-agency team executed search and arrest warrants in what authorities describe as a crimes-against-children operation. Investigators say the man now faces multiple felony counts tied to the alleged promotion of child-abuse material.
Inside The Raid And Agencies Involved
According to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, the operation focused on a residence on Hidden River Lane and brought out a heavy roster of specialized units. The sheriff’s office says its SWAT team and Tactical Unit joined forces with Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) detectives, the Digital Forensics Lab and the Criminal Investigations Section.
Investigators also deployed unmanned aircraft systems to help carry out the warrants, a reminder that modern child-exploitation probes are as much about tech as they are about tactics. The sheriff’s office reported that the arrest itself was made without incident.
Charges And Past Convictions
As reported by the Tampa Free Press, the suspect has been identified as 37-year-old Kyle R. Ex. Following the Wednesday operation, Ex now faces ten counts of promoting child pornography.
Court and registration records cited by that outlet show Ex was released from incarceration in November 2025 and had previously been convicted in Manatee County in 2024 on 15 counts of possession of child pornography. Under that earlier sentence, he was serving sex-offender probation that was scheduled to run through 2038.
Investigation Still Active
Detective Hendrickson of the sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Section is leading the probe, and investigators say Ex remains in custody while digital evidence is examined, according to the Tampa Free Press. The sheriff’s office has asked anyone with information that could help the case to call investigators at 941-861-4900.
Officials say more details will be released as the investigation unfolds and forensic analysts work through the seized electronic evidence. For now, authorities are keeping a tight lid on specifics while they sort through what they collected in the search.
Context: Ongoing Local Sting Operations
The Sarasota arrest fits a broader pattern of Internet Crimes Against Children efforts that blend undercover online work with coordinated warrant service to identify alleged predators who target minors. Previous iterations of Operation Intercept in Sarasota County have resulted in dozens of arrests, highlighting how local detectives and specialized task forces team up on these cases, as reported by FOX 4.
Agencies involved in such operations have repeatedly emphasized the central role of digital forensics, which can turn anonymous online leads into legally enforceable warrants and, ultimately, criminal charges.
Legal Stakes Under Florida Law
Offenses tied to promoting a sexual performance by a child fall under Florida law and can carry prison time along with mandatory sex-offender registration. The statute defines “promote” broadly and treats many types of distribution or transmission of child sexual-abuse material as felony conduct, per Florida Statutes §827.071.
As with any criminal case, the suspect is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law, and the latest charges will ultimately be tested against the state’s evidence and those statutory standards.
