Snoop Dogg is coming home to cut the ribbon on Long Beach’s newest performance playground, headlining the Long Beach Amphitheater’s grand opening on Saturday, June 6, the venue announced Monday. The waterfront, open-air amphitheater next to the Queen Mary is launching with a “Snoop Dogg & Friends” celebration built to put the city’s music legacy squarely in the spotlight.
The venue’s official calendar already lists the June 6 date and links fans to primary ticketing partners. The Long Beach Amphitheater event page shows “Snoop Dogg & Friends” on the schedule and directs buyers to Ticketmaster for seating, premium options, and event details. The hometown party will open a summer slate, the venue says, which will bring national tours and legacy acts to the waterfront.
According to CBS Los Angeles, various presales are set for April 1 and 2, with tickets going on sale to the general public on April 3. Tra Jones, the amphitheater’s general manager for Legends Global, told the outlet, “Opening our doors with Snoop Dogg is the perfect way to celebrate Long Beach’s rich music legacy.”
A Hometown Headliner
Long Beach native Snoop Dogg, born Calvin Broadus, has roots all over the city, from playing football at Long Beach Polytechnic High School to early recording sessions at VIP Records that helped launch his career. Wikipedia and local music histories flag those early years as touchstones in West Coast hip hop, which helps explain why opening night at a new waterfront venue feels less like a booking and more like a homecoming.
The Amphitheater And The Money Behind It
The city and Legends Global held a ceremonial groundbreaking on January 14 and tapped Legends and ASM Global to operate the new site, city officials said. The project carries an approximately 21 million dollar price tag, locally reported around 21.3 million, and is positioned as part of a broader push to boost waterfront events and tourism, according to the Long Beach Post.
What To Expect This Summer
Planning materials and earlier reporting have put seating capacity in the 11,000 to 12,000 range, with grandstands, floor, and VIP configurations. Urbanize LA noted those planning figures, and the venue’s calendar now confirms a packed summer schedule of touring acts and legacy shows.
Presales begin in early April, and organizers are already urging fans to think ahead about how they will get to and from the waterfront. Transit, rideshare, and shuttle options are being lined up to move large crowds between downtown and the surrounding waterfront. As the June 6 opener approaches, fans can keep an eye on the city’s announcements via the City of Long Beach and on the venue’s official calendar at the Long Beach Amphitheater website for the latest on on-sale hours, seating maps, and neighborhood traffic plans.
