A late-night drive in East Bremerton turned deadly on March 28 when a teen was killed and four others were seriously injured in a violent single-vehicle crash. Authorities say an SUV carrying seven teenage boys left Northeast McWilliams Road, slammed through trees and fence lines, and came to rest off the roadway. Emergency crews responded quickly, and the crash remains under active investigation.

As reported by FOX 13 Seattle, deputies said the SUV, identified as a Rivian, was speeding around 11 p.m. when it veered off the road. One 17-year-old was killed in the crash and four other occupants suffered substantial injuries. In total, deputies said the vehicle held four 17-year-olds, two 18-year-olds and one 16-year-old, and all seven occupants were male.

The Kitsap County Sheriff's Office said it is treating the wreck as both a vehicular homicide and vehicular assault case while detectives await toxicology results to determine whether alcohol or drugs played a part. Investigators are asking anyone who saw the Rivian around the time of the crash, or who has home security or dash-camera footage, to contact Deputy Rob Corn, according to the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office.

What Charges Could Follow?

Investigators' decision to pursue vehicular homicide and vehicular assault could lead to felony charges if prosecutors find evidence of impairment or reckless driving. Under Washington law (RCW 46.61.520 and RCW 46.61.522), vehicular homicide may be charged when a death results from driving under the influence, driving in a reckless manner, or driving with disregard for the safety of others, and it carries significant felony penalties.

Investigation Next Steps

Kitsap County deputies say they will continue to collect evidence at the crash site, process the Rivian and wait for toxicology results. Once the investigation is complete, the Kitsap County Prosecutor's Office will decide on any potential charges. The Sheriff's Office has not released the names of those involved or said whether any arrests have been made, and the case remains active.

Anyone who may have seen the vehicle before the crash or who has surveillance or dash-camera video from the area is asked to contact Deputy Rob Corn. More details are available in reporting by FOX 13 Seattle.
