Five years after 21-year-old Jerod Jeffrey was found shot to death in his car at the Sycamore Creek Apartments, Schertz police and Jeffrey's family are again putting up as much as $10,000 for information, hoping someone finally comes forward with the clue that breaks the case.
According to the San Antonio Express-News, officers discovered Jeffrey on March 12, 2021, fatally shot inside his sedan at the complex in the 1000 block of Elbel Road. In a Schertz Police Department news release, officials say the reward for tips that lead to an arrest has been raised to as much as $10,000.
Jeffrey's mother, Janice, has kept up a steady public plea for information, telling KSAT she "just wants some kind of justice." Investigators and the family have worked with local tip lines to lift the reward to $10,000 in hopes that the cash will nudge reluctant witnesses to talk.
Witnesses reported seeing an unidentified man speaking with Jeffrey as he sat in his car shortly before the gunfire, and that person was later spotted leaving the area in a black hoodie and red shorts, according to the San Antonio Express-News. Investigators say that description has not been confirmed and stress that even the smallest detail from the public could move the investigation forward.
