Antonian College Preparatory High School spent Monday morning tightening security after learning that a TikTok video included what officials described as a "terroristic threat" aimed at a school in the Castle Hills area. Outdoor athletics were shifted and staff huddled to plan a response while police reviewed the social media post.
School Alerts Families After Police Tip
In an electronic letter sent to guardians around 8:20 a.m., Antonian said the Archdiocesan Department of Catholic Schools had been notified by the Castle Hills Police Department that "a terroristic threat had been made on the TikTok video platform against an unnamed school in Castle Hills," according to MySA. The message explained that the school had adjusted outdoor athletics and convened faculty to coordinate its response while law enforcement investigates the post.
Message To Parents Stresses Safety First
The email to families noted that "any mention of violence on social media platforms is addressed seriously" and emphasized that "safety of students and staff is of paramount importance," MySA reported. Parents were encouraged to reach out directly to Principal Gabriel Duarte with any questions or concerns.
Police Presence And Community Reporting
School officials told families that law enforcement "is proactive in this situation with the schools in that vicinity" and that an investigation is already underway. According to the City of Castle Hills, residents can call the non-emergency dispatch line at 210-342-2341 to report suspicious activity or share information.
How Texas Treats A ‘Terroristic Threat’
Under Texas law, a "terroristic threat" can be prosecuted under Texas Penal Code §22.07, which covers threats of violence and carries penalties that vary depending on the person’s intent and the circumstances, according to Justia. Local media and school safety groups have repeatedly pointed out that social media posts hinting at violence are increasingly common and are treated as serious matters by schools and police, as KSAT reported.
What Families Can Do Right Now
Antonian’s main campus phone line and contact information are listed on the school’s website. Families can reach the school at (210) 344-9265, according to Antonian College Preparatory, and can call Castle Hills non-emergency dispatch at 210-342-2341 to share tips or concerns. The school has asked that questions be directed to Principal Gabriel Duarte while officials continue to review the situation.
Authorities and school leaders reiterated that any credible threat is handled with urgency and that communication with families will continue as the investigation unfolds. This is a developing story, and officials may release additional details as they become available.
