
A stretch of the El Dorado County foothills that usually draws hikers and mountain bikers turned into a crime scene Tuesday afternoon when a stabbing on Quarry Trail left a minor injured and another person under arrest, according to local authorities.
The incident happened shortly after 1 p.m. on Quarry Trail near the confluence of the American River at the Placer County line, just east of Auburn. The injured minor was taken to a nearby hospital with wounds described as non-life-threatening, and law enforcement officers arrested a suspect later that same day. Investigators have not said what led up to the confrontation or whether the two people involved knew each other.
According to CBS Sacramento, the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office confirmed the arrest and said the victim, who is one of the minors involved, was treated at an area hospital. The sheriff's office has not released the ages of those involved or any details about potential charges.
