Skies are mostly clear this morning at Minneapolis–St. Paul International Airport, with temperatures sitting in the upper 40s. Monday will be on the mild side for early March, with highs near 54°F expected this afternoon and a light north-northwest breeze.
What To Expect This Week
A storm system moves in on Tuesday, March 10, starting as rain in the afternoon and changing to snow Tuesday night. A quick 1–2 inches of accumulation is possible where the changeover happens earlier, and the Wednesday, March 11 morning commute could be slick. Another system brings chances for rain and wet snow on Thursday, March 12, with gusts that could reach about 30 mph Thursday night. Forecasters also say a stronger low may deepen late Saturday into Sunday, March 14–15, with the potential for several inches to a foot of snow depending on the track. These timing and amount details come from the National Weather Service Twin Cities.
Commute And Safety Tips
Plan on extra travel time for the Tuesday night–Wednesday morning window and again late in the week if the systems trend inland. MnDOT advises checking 511 for current road conditions and leaving plenty of room for plows to work. If you drive, pack a basic winter kit with a phone charger, water, warm layers and a small shovel in case you get caught in delays.
Enjoy the mild Monday while it lasts, but keep an eye on forecasts through the week. The weekend still carries the greatest uncertainty and the biggest potential for snowfall. We will update this space if watches or warnings are issued.
