Police are asking Upper East Side residents to help track down a suspect who, they say, walked up to a 65-year-old woman Tuesday evening and shoved her to the ground in front of 150 East 86th Street. The woman was knocked to the pavement and taken to a hospital for treatment, and detectives are now circulating a citywide alert through NYPD Crime Stoppers while urging neighbors to comb through security camera footage.
According to NYPD Crime Stoppers, the incident happened around 6:20 p.m. within the 19th Precinct. Police say an unidentified individual approached the woman, shoved her, and then took off on foot. Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $3,500 for information that leads to an arrest and indictment.
Victim's Injuries And Police Response
As reported by Yahoo News, the woman suffered a broken wrist in the fall and was treated at a nearby hospital. Police have not released a detailed description of the suspect, and the investigation is still active.
How To Help Investigators
Anyone with information can submit tips anonymously through the NYPD Crime Stoppers portal at crimestoppers.nypdonline.org, call 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or text TIP577 to 274637 (CRIMES). Spanish speakers can call 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). Tips that lead to an arrest may qualify for the posted reward.
Neighborhood Context
The alert lands amid a run of assaults targeting older New Yorkers this winter, prompting fresh calls from police for video and eyewitness accounts. Hoodline has reported similar recent cases, including an 88-year-old shoved near Union Square and a 65-year-old punched on a Q14 bus, both of which also triggered Crime Stoppers bulletins. Investigators are again asking neighbors to review any door-camera or building security footage and pass along anything that could help identify the suspect.
