Local outlets later identified the victim as 30-year-old Eric Carter, according to WMAR-2 News.
Neighborhood context and city response
The Poplar Grove killing was one of several violent incidents reported across the city that day, prompting Mayor Brandon Scott to meet with police leadership and restate the administration's violence-reduction efforts. City officials have highlighted year-to-date declines in homicides, but they also stress that every unsolved killing weighs heavily on families and neighborhoods, as reported by CBS Baltimore.
