A late-night rideshare in Linthicum ended with flashing lights and handcuffs yesterday after a cautious driver told 911 that a passenger in the backseat was armed and dealing drugs, according to Anne Arundel County authorities.

Police say they detained the rider at the scene and recovered a handgun along with several small amounts of suspected narcotics. County officials reported that charges were filed following the arrest.

According to FOX45, officers were called around 9:10 p.m. on April 1 to the 700 block of Elkridge Landing Road after the rideshare driver went into a nearby business and dialed 911. When Anne Arundel County officers arrived, they found 31-year-old Montarius Wise seated in the backseat, police said.

Investigators reported that Wise complied with officers and was detained without incident. A search turned up a loaded handgun in his waistband, along with 1.76 grams of suspected heroin or fentanyl, 0.69 grams of suspected cocaine, six suspected oxycodone pills, and 5.1 grams of suspected marijuana, according to the department’s account of the stop.

Local enforcement targeting drugs and guns

Detectives in Anne Arundel County have been stacking up similar gun and drug seizures in recent months as they focus on distribution networks and street-level dealers. Coverage of an October operation highlighted officers confiscating hundreds of grams of narcotics and multiple firearms, underscoring that Wednesday’s arrest fits into a broader enforcement push.

Charges and next steps

Police say Wise was arrested and charged following the stop, although a full list of counts and his booking status were not immediately released by the department. FOX45 reports that the case remains under investigation by Anne Arundel County detectives.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Anne Arundel County Police Tip Line at 410-222-4700 or dial 911 in an emergency, according to county public resources.
