A fast-moving fire tore through part of the Enclave Apartments on Greenhouse Drive in Roswell on Thursday night, sending residents rushing into the parking lot and pulling in dozens of firefighters. City crews deployed aerial streams and multiple engines to attack what officials called a large structure fire, while neighbors reported ash and sparks drifting across the complex. No injuries were reported, but several residents were displaced as firefighters worked well into the night.
According to FOX 5 Atlanta, the Roswell Fire Department said crews responded to the blaze at the Enclave Apartments and confirmed that no one was hurt. Firefighters focused on knocking down the main body of fire and soaking lingering hot spots to prevent rekindles, while emergency partners helped get residents safely out and accounted for.
A resident identified as Adnan told FOX 5 Atlanta he heard a sudden "bang noise" around 6:45 p.m., then looked up to see a "huge, huge fire on the roof" racing from the back of the building. He credited firefighters with moving quickly to contain the flames and check neighboring units for damage.
Damage And Displacement
Officials have not yet determined what sparked the fire or released a detailed count of damaged apartments, the Roswell Fire Department said. Crews spent hours chasing hidden hot spots and opening up walls where smoke had traveled, while property managers and community partners began arranging shelter options for residents who could not return home.
Why This Matters
When flames burn through roofs and into concealed wall spaces, the result can be extensive smoke and water damage that stretches far beyond what is visibly charred, complicating both repairs and short-term housing plans. Roswell has seen multiple recent apartment fires, as WSB has reported, and officials continue to urge residents to keep smoke alarms in working order and to review family escape plans.
How Residents Can Get Help
The Roswell Fire Department said it is working with community partners to assist displaced residents and asked anyone with immediate needs to contact city services. For official updates and guidance, the department is directing the public to the city's emergency resources.
Investigators remained on scene Friday as crews wrapped up operations and continued to search for the cause of the fire. Officials asked neighbors to steer clear of the area while safety checks and the investigation continue.
