South Brooklyn is about to get a serious upgrade in medical imaging. Weill Cornell is planning to open a major imaging outpost in Bay Ridge that officials say will bring advanced radiology services closer to neighborhood patients. The project, described by business reporters as a roughly $57 million radiology clinic, will be housed inside the NewYork-Presbyterian Bay Ridge Primary & Multispecialty center, marking a significant expansion of hospital-run outpatient care outside Manhattan.
Business outlet Crain's New York Business reported the $57 million figure and noted that the center will focus on diagnostic imaging and related radiology services. Crain's first detailed the plan in an April 8, 2026 story by Amanda D'Ambrosio.
The NewYork-Presbyterian Bay Ridge location listing confirms that Weill Cornell physicians are slated to practice at the new facility starting in April 2026 and lists the address as 502 86th Street. NewYork-Presbyterian notes that the practice will offer on-site diagnostic testing, including laboratory work, X-rays, ultrasounds, echocardiograms and nuclear stress testing, along with easy access via the R train at 86th Street and nearby municipal parking.
What Bay Ridge Will Get
The new clinic is expected to house high-resolution CT and MRI scanners and provide subspecialized reads that patients often travel to Manhattan to obtain. Weill Cornell's imaging materials describe services such as CT, MRI, digital mammography and ultrasound interpreted by board-certified, subspecialized radiologists, with rapid reporting to referring clinicians. Weill Cornell Imaging highlights the program's focus on advanced equipment and coordinated reporting systems aimed at smoothing communication between radiologists and other doctors.
Why It Matters
The Bay Ridge clinic is arriving as Weill Cornell and NewYork-Presbyterian continue to expand research and outpatient footprints across the city, a strategy that lines up with recent real-estate moves in Manhattan. Industry advisors have framed those acquisitions as part of an effort to bring more care and research resources closer to patients and clinicians. JLL and others have pointed to the broader push.
NewYork-Presbyterian is already accepting appointments for the Bay Ridge site; the facility page lists hours and a contact number, 929-470-8400. Hospital materials promise what they call "seamless access to our extensive hospital network," which the health system says will ease coordination between neighborhood doctors and hospital specialists, according to NewYork-Presbyterian. The Bay Ridge practice is listed at 502 86th Street, a short walk from the 86th Street R train stop.
