A fast-moving burglary streak across the San Fernando Valley left several neighborhoods on edge this weekend, with Los Angeles police probing four residential break-ins in roughly 24 hours. Two homes in Sherman Oaks and a Hollywood Hills residence were hit, and one resident was hurt after coming face-to-face with a suspect. Detectives say thieves made off with about $100,000 in jewelry and are now working to track down several suspects.
What police say
According to police, one home on Davana Terrace in Sherman Oaks was burglarized Friday, then hit Saturday night again after a suspect smashed a window to get inside, the department told ABC7 Los Angeles. Investigators say the back-to-back break-ins are part of a wider cluster they are reviewing.
Another incident unfolded around 9:30 p.m. Saturday on Macapa Drive in the Hollywood Hills. Residents came home while the burglary was still in progress, and one person who confronted a suspect suffered minor injuries, police said. Two men reportedly escaped from that scene with roughly $100,000 in jewelry.
About 1 a.m. that same night, a separate home on Sylmar Avenue in Sherman Oaks was also targeted while no one was inside, according to detectives. Police have not yet determined whether the burglary cases are linked, and the investigation now centers on identifying several suspected burglars believed to be involved.
Pattern echoes wider Valley trend
The latest cases fit an unsettling pattern that Valley residents have seen before. NBC Los Angeles previously reported a series of multiple overnight break-ins within hours across the San Fernando Valley late last year, which left neighborhoods scrambling to upgrade security.
Law enforcement has, in earlier cases, tied high-value residential burglaries to organized crews targeting affluent pockets of the region. A 2025 operation led to arrests in a group suspected of nearly 100 break-ins, according to the Associated Press. Detectives have not publicly linked this weekend's incidents to any specific crew but are treating the spree seriously.
