Brookfield Ald. Kris Seals is not backing away from a series of inflammatory posts that appeared on a since-deleted LinkedIn profile, even as faith leaders and residents call him out. The profile vanished after a resident shared screenshots with local media, but Seals told FOX6 he "won't admit or deny" whether the page was his. He said he regrets only one message, the one that urged shooting criminals in the head to avoid court and prison costs. The uproar has sparked public condemnation and uncomfortable questions at City Hall.

What the posts said

According to FOX6 News Milwaukee, the LinkedIn account featured multiple posts with violent and anti-immigrant rhetoric. One post declared, "It's time to wipe out the immigrants from Britain and all of the EU." At least two others talked about shooting Muslims with "Bacon rapped [sic] bullets." FOX6 also reported a post that referenced hanging former President Barack Obama.

Seals told the station he stood by the messages overall, with the exception of the one about shooting criminals, which he said he regretted. He did not directly confirm that the LinkedIn profile was his, instead repeating that he would neither admit nor deny owning it.

Officials, employer and faith leaders react

Brookfield's city attorney tried to put some distance between City Hall and the controversy. In a statement to FOX6 News Milwaukee, the attorney said the city "does not create, manage, monitor or endorse any personal social media pages for its elected officials or employees." In other words, the city is not taking ownership of whatever was posted on that LinkedIn page.

Nolan Accounting Center, which FOX6 identified as Seals' employer, also moved quickly to draw a line. The firm told the station it had not known about the posts and that "Kris does not speak for our firm or myself." The message was clear, and it was not an endorsement.

Faith leaders were more direct. Imran Riaz, president of the Islamic Society of Milwaukee Brookfield, called the statements "deeply concerning" and said they had caused real unease among local Muslims. He invited Seals to meet with the community, arguing that an honest conversation could help build understanding instead of hostility.

Seals' standing and local context

Despite the controversy, Seals remains on the ballot. He is listed as the candidate for the City of Brookfield's District 7 in the spring election, with no opponent, according to the city's official candidate list. The City of Brookfield records show his name appearing on the ballot as the incumbent.

This is not Seals' first brush with public backlash. In January 2023, he drew criticism for saying a proposed affordable-housing project would be a "step down" for Brookfield, a remark that led some fellow alders to call for censure. Local outlets reported on the dispute at the time, and it has lingered in the background as a point of tension.

So far, city officials have not announced any formal disciplinary action in response to the LinkedIn uproar, and the profile itself remains deleted. For now, the episode has become another flashpoint in a broader debate over how elected officials talk about immigrants, Muslims, and the communities they are supposed to represent. Local leaders say it has also exposed how urgently Brookfield needs more direct, candid conversations between its officials and its increasingly diverse residents.
