A late-night motorcycle crash in Clermont County turned fatal Thursday when a Batavia rider was pronounced dead at an AirCare landing zone after crews rushed to airlift her to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

Troopers identified the motorcyclist as 38-year-old Emily Koeppe. The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the wreck happened around 10:03 p.m. on U.S. Route 50 in Stonelick Township. Investigators said Koeppe’s motorcycle left the roadway and hit a guardrail before emergency crews moved her to a nearby landing zone to await helicopter transport.

Crash Details And Official Account

According to WKRC Local 12, Koeppe was riding a 2013 Harley-Davidson Forty-Eight when the bike failed to make a turn, overturned and went off the left side of the road. First responders deemed her injuries life-threatening and shifted her from the crash scene to the AirCare landing zone in an effort to get her to the hospital as quickly as possible.

Troopers said Koeppe was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The cause of the wreck remains under investigation, and officials have not yet said what they believe led up to the motorcycle losing control.

AirCare Response

UC Health’s Air Care & Mobile Care program serves as the region’s primary helicopter transport for critically injured patients, bringing Level I trauma resources to the field when time and distance make air travel necessary. The program’s public materials explain that flight crews respond to designated landing zones, stabilize patients on site and then transport them to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center when advanced care is needed.

UC Health Air Care & Mobile Care coordinates these flights and works directly with local EMS teams on the ground to move patients from crash scenes or community hospitals into higher levels of care.
