Fort Worth mainstay Kincaid’s Hamburgers is taking its griddle game inside the ropes at Colonial Country Club, rolling out its famous patties for this year’s Charles Schwab Challenge as both hometown institutions celebrate 80 years. The family-owned chain will be serving quarter-pound "junior" burgers at several on-course villages and at a concession stand on the 13th hole throughout tournament week, May 27–31.
According to a news release from the Charles Schwab Challenge, Kincaid’s burgers will be on the menu in three on-course Villages, at the concession at hole No. 13 from Thursday through Sunday, and in corporate suites on Saturday. The release highlights the shared anniversary, noting that both Colonial and Kincaid’s trace their roots to 1946 and are marking eight-decade milestones during tournament week. “For 80 years, Kincaid’s Hamburgers has proudly served Fort Worth, and we’re deeply honored to celebrate alongside the Charles Schwab Challenge,” Kincaid’s co-owner Jonathan Gentry said in the announcement.
Kincaid’s Roots In Fort Worth
The business started life as Charles Kincaid’s Grocery & Market on Camp Bowie Boulevard in 1946, and the market’s butcher, O. R. Gentry, began selling hamburgers in the mid-1960s as burger demand began to outpace grocery sales. Those early grill sessions set the pattern for a hometown favorite that now operates five locations across Fort Worth, Arlington and Southlake, according to Kincaid’s, which traces three generations of family ownership.
What To Expect At Colonial
As reported by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Kincaid’s will stick with quarter-pound "junior" burgers at Colonial to cut down on grilling time, though hungry fans can still order doubles. The chain, celebrated locally and once lauded in national outlets, will pair those burgers with its crinkle-cut fries, milkshakes and house onion rings for a classic stadium-side spread. Fans who remember the half-pound originals may notice smaller patties, but they can expect faster lines and the same old-school flavor.
The appearance is a showcase of how local institutions can team up during tournament week, bringing Camp Bowie flavors to one of golf’s storied courses.
