A late-night stabbing on Market Street has left an 18-year-old man dead and his 17-year-old girlfriend facing a murder charge, according to authorities. Officers were called to the 1400 block of Market Street shortly after 10:45 p.m. Monday, where they found the victim, 18-year-old Ta'Mar Shaw, suffering from chest wounds. Shaw was rushed to a local hospital, but he later died. Police say the suspect, identified as 17-year-old Dalaysia Terrell-Brown of Harrisburg, was taken into custody the next day and is now facing multiple charges as detectives continue to dig into what happened.
The Harrisburg Bureau of Police said in a CrimeWatch post that officers responded to the scene and that Terrell-Brown was arrested on April 7. She is charged with murder and possession of an instrument of a crime. According to the post, a homicide investigation was opened immediately, and anyone with information is urged to call 717-558-6900 or submit a tip online. Police have not publicly discussed a possible motive as investigators work to piece together the events leading up to the stabbing.
WGAL reported that the Dauphin County coroner identified the victim as 18-year-old Ta'Mar Shaw of Steelton and ruled his death a homicide. The station said Shaw suffered a stab wound to the chest and was pronounced dead after being taken to a hospital.
Police say videos show threats and knives were recovered
According to CBS Pittsburgh, investigators reviewed three Instagram videos that reportedly show Terrell-Brown threatening her boyfriend with a knife before the fatal stabbing. The outlet also reports that officers recovered three knives from the teenager's room when they arrested her. Court records cited by the station show Terrell-Brown was denied bail and remains in custody as the case moves toward a preliminary arraignment later this month.
Where the case is now
Terrell-Brown is being held at the Dauphin County Prison while prosecutors prepare the case. The county jail's website lists visitor guidelines and legal-mail information for family members and attorneys. Located at 501 Mall Road in Harrisburg, the facility houses pretrial detainees from across Dauphin County.
Police ask for help from witnesses
The Harrisburg Bureau of Police has reiterated that anyone with information should call 717-558-6900 or submit a tip through its CrimeWatch page. Detectives say the investigation is still active and are encouraging witnesses to come forward to help establish a clearer timeline and potential motive.
Legal implications
Terrell-Brown faces felony murder charges that will be handled in Dauphin County courts. According to CBS Pittsburgh, court records show she was denied bail and is scheduled for a preliminary arraignment later this month. If prosecutors move ahead with formal charges, the case could proceed through preliminary hearings and, potentially, a trial in county court.
