Where this fits in the city's data
The wanted alert comes weeks after the March 4 killing and lands in the middle of a year-to-date rise in homicide offenses reported across Dallas. The city’s public-safety dashboard lists 46 homicide offenses so far in 2026, compared with 39 over the same period in 2025. Those numbers are included in the Dallas Police Department’s March public-safety briefing to the City Council. The figures are posted on the City of Dallas public-safety dashboard.
How to help
Police are urging anyone who sees Jacobs or has information about the case to call Crime Stoppers at 214-373-TIPS (8477) or reach out to the Dallas Police Homicide Unit. Tips can be submitted anonymously and may be eligible for a reward, according to the department.
Investigators have assigned case number 030490-2026 to the homicide and are asking callers and tipsters to reference that number when reaching out. More information about the investigation and suspect search is posted on departmental channels, including DPD Beat.
Legal note
Dallas police say Jacobs is wanted on a capital murder charge. Under Texas law, capital murder is a capital felony that can carry life imprisonment without the possibility of parole or, in cases where the state pursues it, the death penalty. Jacobs is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court. For the statutory framework, see the Texas Penal Code.
