The Community Church of New York has quietly gone on a Chelsea shopping spree, picking up several condominium units for nearly $15 million and carving out a sizable presence in one of Manhattan's gallery-and-showroom corridors.
According to an April 3, 2026 report in Crain's New York Business, the church closed on the condo assemblage for just under $15 million. The space, which had most recently housed a Stickley furniture showroom, was marketed with deal images and materials credited to Rudder Property Group.
What the Church Bought
The package totals about 20,500 square feet across multiple condo units, giving the congregation a flexible footprint that could serve as offices, program space or potentially be leased out. Industry records compiled by PincusCo show the Community Church of New York has been an active property player in Manhattan. It sold several East 35th Street parcels to Continuum for $66.2 million in October 2024, a deal that underscored the church's comfort operating in the borough's real estate arena.
What Happens Next
Crain's New York Business did not report any specific plans from the church for the newly acquired Chelsea spread, so the final use of the space remains an open question. For now, the transaction stands as another example that institutional and other nontraditional buyers are still very much in the mix in Manhattan's commercial-condo market.
