Developers say the project will bring stadium-scale sports broadcasts, immersive cinema and year-round performances to downtown Cleveland, marking an early construction milestone in Bedrock's wider mixed-use vision. The timing follows the project's initial reveal last summer, when Cosm first committed to the site.
As reported by Crain's Cleveland Business, the partners have scheduled a ceremonial groundbreaking and laid out a construction timeline that moves Rock Block from the planning sheets to visible work on the ground. Reporter Joe Scalzo notes that the event is being treated as the first major public step for the downtown entertainment project.
Venue Specs and Programming
According to a press release from Bedrock, the Cleveland Cosm will cover roughly 50,000 square feet and center on a 30-meter, 12K-plus LED dome with a complementary high-resolution wall display built for live sports, concert presentations and immersive film. Bedrock and Cosm say programming will lean on official partnerships with major broadcasters and leagues, while also hosting experiential art and touring productions such as Cirque du Soleil's "O."
Where It Will Rise
The site is currently a surface parking parcel at East 4th Street, Prospect Avenue and Huron Road, which is part of the block Bedrock brands as Rock Block and sits immediately across from Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, per Rock Entertainment Group. Developers and RockEG say the venue is designed to energize game days and boost downtown foot traffic spilling toward Playhouse Square and the broader Gateway District.
Timeline and Local Impact
Local reporting and developer materials estimate Cosm could add hundreds of thousands, and possibly more than 1 million, incremental visits each year and help spur adjacent hotels, restaurants and office space, according to NEOhio News. That outlet also reports that site-preparation work is already underway, with contractors performing early excavation and stabilization ahead of the ceremonial groundbreaking.
Cosm's Roll-Out and Partners
Cosm has already opened locations in Los Angeles and Dallas and broke ground on a Detroit site last year as part of a rapid national rollout, industry coverage shows. Sports Business Journal and other trade outlets note the company's push into mid-market entertainment hubs, while Bedrock and RockEG handle local permitting and build-out.
"This incredible venue will enhance our city's reputation as a hub for sports and entertainment," Cleveland Mayor Justin M. Bibb said in a statement, praising the project's potential for jobs and downtown vitality. In a press release via Bedrock, Cosm's leadership confirmed Cleveland will be the company's fifth U.S. location and said more programming details will roll out as construction progresses.
