A late-night house party in Litchfield Park ended with flashing lights and crime-scene tape early Saturday after gunfire erupted, sending several people to the hospital with injuries authorities say are not life-threatening.
Deputies with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office were called out after multiple 911 callers reported shots in the area of Dysart Road and Maryland Avenue, according to KTAR News 92.3 FM. Investigators said multiple victims were taken to nearby hospitals and that detectives remained on scene collecting evidence and talking with witnesses. No arrests had been reported early Saturday morning, and the case remains under investigation.
Party shootings in the Valley
The Litchfield Park shooting is the latest in a string of party-related incidents that have rattled Valley neighborhoods in recent years. In one case, ABC15 reported that a house party in the city of Maricopa ended with at least one person shot and taken to the hospital. In another, FOX 10 Phoenix detailed a party where multiple people were wounded.
In those past incidents, investigators often turned to partygoers and nearby residents, asking for video, photos, and tips that might help piece together what happened after the music stopped.
What investigators are asking
KTAR News 92.3 FM reports that the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office had not released any suspect information as of early Saturday and is asking anyone with video, photos, or other information to contact investigators. Litchfield Park's public-safety guidance reminds residents to use 911 for emergencies and a non-emergency line or local contacts to share information that is not urgent.
Authorities are also urging people to avoid spreading unverified rumors or sharing graphic material while the investigation is underway. Officials say they will release more details as they become available. This story will be updated if the sheriff's office or other agencies provide additional information.
