The Frito & Katy morning show has disappeared from Houston country outlet 100.3 The Bull after roughly 15 months on the air, with co-host Tucker "Frito" Young quietly confirming the end of the run in a social media post that he simply called "a ride." Young thanked listeners, said he plans to spend more time with family while he figures out what is next, and signed off on what had been a relatively short stint in one of the country format’s big-league markets. Co-host Katy Dempsey has not publicly commented.
Show Disappears From Station Site As Host Confirms Exit
According to the Chron, 100.3 The Bull removed references to Frito & Katy from its website, and Young later confirmed the move in a Facebook post, writing, "The ride has ended in Houston, and what a ride it's been." The outlet noted that Audacy has not publicly explained the Houston shakeup and that the duo had only stepped into the station’s morning slot in January 2025.
Industry Cuts Likely Behind The Move
Industry outlets have linked the change to a new wave of staff reductions at Audacy that has touched multiple markets and formats. Awful Announcing reported that the company’s latest cuts included on-air talent in several cities, and Media Confidential listed Frito & Katy among the names caught up in the most recent round of RIFs. Taken together, those trade reports suggest that the Houston change is part of a broader cost-cutting pattern at the company.
From San Antonio To Houston
The team arrived at KILT-FM in January 2025 after spending three years in morning drive at Y100 in San Antonio, a move Audacy rolled out with some fanfare in a January press release. In that announcement, Audacy pointed to the pair’s resume, including a 2024 CMA Broadcast Award, a Marconi and multiple Crystal Awards, as justification for handing them the high-profile Houston slot. Trade coverage at the time, including Radio Ink, also noted that Frito & Katy were stepping in after The Morning Bullpen ended in December 2024.
Hosts’ Response And Local Reaction
In his Facebook message, Young reflected on what the job had given him and did not sound bitter on the way out. "Radio has loved me SO much," he wrote, adding that he is leaving "with a full heart and overcome with gratitude." As the Chron reported, he made a point of thanking station staff and listeners for how quickly they embraced the show. For now, 100.3 The Bull has not said how it will rebuild its morning roster.
What This Means For Houston Mornings
It has been a busy year for mornings on 100.3 The Bull, which has cycled through several changes in that slot over the past 12 months. The latest exit means the station will once again have to plug a gap in one of its most important dayparts, and all signs point to Audacy moving quickly while it weighs longer term options. Trade coverage of the company’s recent moves has underscored that Audacy is reworking lineups and staffing in multiple markets, so listeners and advertisers in Houston will be watching closely for the next official word on who, if anyone, takes over the Frito & Katy time slot.
