
Two people, an adult and a child, were wounded in a late-night stabbing near the Village Square shopping center in Hazelwood on Wednesday, according to police. Officers quickly moved in on the area and arrested a suspect nearby. One victim was treated at the scene, while the other was taken to a hospital with injuries that were described as non-life-threatening. Detectives with the Hazelwood Police Department have opened an investigation.
Suspect Detained Near Shopping Center
Hazelwood police told FOX2 that officers responded to the area around 11 p.m. Wednesday and detained a person close to the Village Square complex. Police said the detention happened without further incident, and detectives are now handling the case.
Scene and Injuries
According to KMOV, officers were called to a report of a stabbing at the 75 Village Square Shopping Center. One victim received treatment at the scene, while the other was taken to a local hospital. Officials said neither victim suffered life-threatening injuries. Police have not released the names of the victims.
Investigation Under Way
The Hazelwood Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Team is leading the probe. Authorities told FOX2 that the suspect faces pending charges from the St. Louis County prosecutor. Police have not yet released additional information about the suspect or a possible motive.
The investigation remains active, and officials said they will release more details when they become available. For now, the suspect is in custody and Hazelwood detectives continue to follow leads.
