Memphis police say they now have the car they believe was used in a Hickory Hill nightclub shooting that left a man fighting for his life last summer, and they are showing it to the public. On April 26, the department released surveillance video of the vehicle connected to the early morning July 20, 2025, shooting outside District 12 Social Club, where officers found a man shot inside his own car and rushed him to the hospital in critical condition.

Investigators shared still images and a brief clip of what they describe as a black 2020 Infiniti Q50. The Memphis Police Department says the car has been recovered and is being processed for evidence, according to FOX13 Memphis. Police have not yet named any suspects and say they are circulating the footage in hopes that someone can help identify the vehicle or who was inside it.

Police ask for tips

Officials are urging anyone who recognizes the Infiniti, its occupants, or the license plate to contact CrimeStoppers. Tips can be submitted anonymously by calling 901-528-CASH, per CrimeStoppers Memphis. The organization notes its tip line runs 24 hours a day and can accept photos or videos that might help detectives piece together what happened.

Scene and earlier investigation

Officers first responded to the shooting just before 1:40 a.m. on July 20, 2025, after reports of gunfire near Winchester Road and Kirby Parkway. When they arrived, they found a man inside a car with gunshot wounds. He was taken to Regional One in critical condition, as reported by Action News 5. At the time, witnesses offered conflicting descriptions of the suspect vehicle, and no arrests were announced.

Neighborhood impact

The attack shook District 12 patrons and nearby residents and pushed the club to publicly address its security measures. Coverage that detailed the club's security response and public plea for information noted that the venue reported no disturbances inside before the gunfire and urged anyone with knowledge of the shooting to speak up.

Memphis police say the case is still very much active, with detectives following up on tips and forensic evidence from the recovered Infiniti. The department has not said whether any charges have been filed in connection with the July shooting, according to FOX13 Memphis.
