Far Out Ice Cream is gearing up to bring its New Zealand-style, fruit-blended scoops to Cleveland Circle, planting a new storefront at 1930 Beacon St just a short stroll from Boston College. The roughly 1,400-square-foot shop is set up with a customer-facing front for counter service, while the back-of-house space will be devoted to events and the company’s growing catering operation. When it opens, this Cleveland Circle spot will become Far Out’s fourth Greater Boston outpost, joining its Time Out Market stall in the Fenway, a Brookline shop near Coolidge Corner, and a Cambridgeside location in East Cambridge. Neighbors and students can look forward to the same fruit-first flavors and build-your-own mix-ins that helped turn the brand into a local favorite.
Owner Comment and Space Details
In an email to What Now Boston, co-founder and president August Radbill said, "We're very grateful and proud to be joining the neighborhood and to be part of such a vibrant local community." The outlet reports that Far Out will move into the former Energize juice bar and convert the site into about 1,400 square feet, with the front focused on customers and the back dedicated to events and catering. The new location continues the team’s steady expansion across the region.
When It Could Open
According to Boston.com, Radbill said he hopes the Cleveland Circle shop can open ahead of April 20, which would position the store for Marathon Monday crowds and spring-semester foot traffic. The site listed the address as 1930 Beacon St and described the move as a natural match for nearby college students.
What New Zealand-Style Means
Time Out Market Boston has explained Far Out’s approach as a fresh-to-order process that blends a vanilla or chocolate base with whole frozen fruit in a specialized machine, creating a denser, more fruit-forward texture than typical soft-serve. Founders August Radbill and Drew Beja have highlighted the use of locally sourced dairy and simple ingredients in past coverage, which helps account for the brand’s loyal following.
Menu Highlights and Campus Tie-Ins
The Cleveland Circle menu is expected to mirror the Brookline lineup, with fruits such as strawberry, blueberry, mango, and the signature "kookaberry" blend, plus mix-ins like chocolate flakes, graham-cracker crumbs, rainbow sprinkles, and a salted-caramel drizzle, according to What Now Boston. Radbill also told the outlet that the team is exploring special collaborations with Boston College and its students.
Neighborhood Fit
Beacon Street’s Cleveland Circle is already a busy corridor for students and local residents, and Far Out’s arrival will add one more dessert stop to the mix, close to campus life and weekend foot traffic. The company has not yet announced a firm public opening date. Owners say buildout work is in progress and that more details are expected as the project wraps up.
