What began as a warrant service call in north Harris County has escalated into an aggravated assault case, after a woman arrested on an outstanding DWI warrant was later linked to a stabbing victim who showed up at a nearby emergency room.
Deputies with Harris County Constable Precinct 4 were serving the warrant in the 16400 block of the North Freeway when Corporal Galicia located the female suspect and took her into custody on the driving-while-intoxicated charge, according to the agency. Deputies were later contacted by staff at the Fairfield emergency room about a patient who had arrived with multiple stab wounds, and prosecutors have since filed an aggravated assault charge against the suspect already in jail, the office reported.
According to the Harris County Constable Precinct 4 website, the agency lists its main address as 6831 Cypresswood Drive in Spring and promotes its “C4 NOW” app for live alerts, tips and records requests. The site also provides phone numbers and instructions for filing open-records requests for anyone seeking case updates or wanting to submit information.
What the charge means
Under Texas law, aggravated assault is governed by section 22.02 of the Texas Penal Code and can be elevated to a felony when it involves serious bodily injury or the use of a deadly weapon. An offense under that section is prosecuted as a felony, with penalties that vary based on the circumstances and degree of harm alleged.
What's next
Prosecutors have filed the additional aggravated assault charge against the woman now in custody, according to an update on the Harris County Constable Precinct 4 Facebook page. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Precinct 4 dispatch or send tips through the agency’s website or the C4 NOW app, per Harris County Constable Precinct 4.
