Oakwood police are searching for a 51-year-old father after officers say a video shown to them appears to capture him striking and threatening his 16-year-old child in a motel room. Investigators say the teen was left with visible swelling and bruising to the head and face, and that the suspect took off before officers arrived. An arrest warrant is now outstanding.

What police say

Officers were called around 2 a.m. last Friday to the Jameson Inn Oakwood off Thurmon Tanner Parkway, where they found a 16-year-old and a woman who appeared intoxicated, according to Atlanta News First. The woman showed officers a video of herself arguing with the child. In that footage, police say the child's father, identified as 51-year-old Caprice Neals, "was seen punching the juvenile multiple times in the head, face and neck while threatening to kill them."

Video shows injuries, warrant issued

Police told Atlanta News First the teen had swelling and bruising to their head and face, and that Neals left the scene before officers got there. An arrest warrant has been issued for Neals, although police have not released a photo or physical description.

Oakwood police are asking anyone with information to contact the department. The City of Oakwood lists the non-emergency police number as (770) 534-2364. For immediate danger, call 911. With a warrant now issued, investigators say they will work to locate and arrest Neals so prosecutors can review the case and decide on formal charges. The Oakwood Police Department has not shared additional details publicly. This story will be updated if officials release more information.
