Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr says a Cobb County grand jury has indicted three out-of-state defendants in connection with a fiery attack on a contractor’s office tied to the Atlanta Public Safety Training Center project. Prosecutors allege that Katie Marie Kloth, 39; Tyler John Norman, 42; and Hannah Kass, 33, hurled incendiary devices at a Brasfield & Gorrie office in Cobb County on May 12, 2022, while employees were still inside.
According to a press release from the Georgia Attorney General’s Office, a Cobb grand jury returned the indictment on April 23, 2026. Each defendant faces two counts of criminal damage to property in the second degree and one count of arson of lands. In the statement, Carr said, "When it comes to fighting Antifa and keeping people safe, we won’t back down." The office noted that the Cobb County Police Department and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation handled the investigation.
Ties To A Larger 'Cop City' Prosecution
Prosecutors say this latest case is folded into a much larger effort targeting protests against the Atlanta Public Safety Training Center, the project critics dubbed "Cop City." A prior racketeering indictment named 61 people, and reporting from FOX 5 Atlanta and court filings describe allegations of a pattern that includes arson, property destruction and cross-state coordination. That history has turned the prosecutions into a politically charged and legally complex slog, with motions and hearings stretching out over months.
What Prosecutors Say Happened
The Attorney General’s release alleges the three defendants traveled to the Brasfield & Gorrie office on May 12, 2022, and "threw incendiary devices" at the building, damaging property and setting fire to nearby land while workers were inside, according to the Georgia Attorney General’s Office. GBI Director Chris Hosey is quoted in the statement saying the alleged acts "have repeatedly placed members of the community, construction personnel, and public safety officials in danger." Carr’s Prosecution Division presented evidence to a Cobb County grand jury that investigators say resulted in the indictments.
Next Steps And Legal Note
Indictments are allegations, and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. Local outlets followed the announcement closely, and Atlanta News First ran live updates on Thursday’s developments. Prosecutors say the case will proceed in Cobb County. Court filings and hearing dates have not yet been detailed publicly, and this story will be updated as that information becomes available.
