Minneapolis is tuning up for a five-day June celebration in honor of Prince, timed around what would have been his 68th birthday on June 7. The city and Paisley Park are lining up concerts, panel discussions and a downtown block party meant to bring fans back into the streets for the annual remembrance.
Dates, Venues and Tickets
The official Celebration is set for June 3–7, 2026, with programming based at Paisley Park in Chanhassen and pop-up events scattered across downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul, according to Minneapolis.org. Organizers are billing the series as the "10th Year Anniversary Celebration of Life," with concerts, archival film screenings and panel conversations tied to milestone Prince albums.
Sing-Along By The Mural
A free "Black Party" sing-along on June 6 is slated to unfold near the downtown Prince mural from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., KARE-TV reports. The event will feature a 100-voice Minneapolis choir led by musical director Sanford Moore of Moore By Four, giving fans a communal chance to belt through Prince’s catalog on the eve of his birthday.
“Prince belongs to Minneapolis,” Mayor Jacob Frey told KARE-TV. City arts officials have described the block party as “a love letter to Prince” for both his fans and the city. L. Londell McMillan, who has worked for Prince as an attorney and manager, said the week will trace songs “from the beginning through the end” of the artist’s career, organizers say.
Lineup And Community Programming
Headliners and collaborators announced for Celebration include Chaka Khan, Morris Day, Bootsy Collins and a mash-up of members of the Revolution and the New Power Generation, as reported by the Star Tribune. Beyond the big names, programming will feature gospel brunches, panel talks, archival vault access and special cruises on Lake Minnetonka tied to anniversary records.
Most Celebration events require paid tickets and limited-capacity wristbands. The official Celebration site carries ticket information, schedules and updates on individual event release dates; see Prince Celebration for details.
The People's Museum for Prince - set to open in North Minneapolis on June 7 - will offer another public touchpoint for fans over the weekend, according to The People's Museum for Prince. Visitors heading downtown are being told to expect heavy foot traffic and street-permit activity and to plan transit and arrival times accordingly, organizers and city pages note.
