A quiet Thursday morning in Queens turned unsettling when, according to police, an unidentified person entered a 22-year-old man's home and walked off with his house keys. The reported break-in happened on Thursday, April 16, at about 9:20 a.m. in the vicinity of Murray Street and 35 Avenue, inside the city's 109th Precinct. The victim sustained minor injuries, and no arrests were listed in the Crime Stoppers alert.
According to NYPD Crime Stoppers, the suspect got in through the front door, removed the victim's keys and then fled the scene. The post again notes that the injuries were minor and asks anyone with information to either call the department's tip line or send a direct message to the NYPD Crime Stoppers account.
Police Seek Footage and Offer Reward
The city's Crime Stoppers program offers rewards of up to $3,500 for anonymous information that leads to an arrest, and tips can be submitted by calling 800-577-TIPS or using the online tip form, according to the NYPD Crime Stoppers page. Officials emphasize that callers remain anonymous and that rewards are administered by the Police Foundation.
Crime Stoppers Alerts Are Becoming Common In Queens
Local reporting has noted that the NYPD is leaning more on its Crime Stoppers feed to ask neighbors and businesses to check doorbell and security-camera footage after robberies. A similar Flushing-area alert recently asked residents for help identifying a suspect.
109th Precinct: What That Means Locally
The scene falls inside the NYPD's 109th Precinct, which serves Downtown Flushing, College Point and Whitestone, and the precinct stationhouse is listed at 37-05 Union Street, according to the NYPD 109th Precinct page. Officers assigned to the precinct investigate robberies and other assaults across those neighborhoods.
Anyone with footage or information is asked to call 800-577-TIPS, submit an internet tip, or message @NYPDTips. Police say tips are handled confidentially, and information that leads to an arrest may be eligible for the posted reward.
