Palo Alto is getting a fresh caffeine jolt, courtesy of Ralph Lauren. The fashion powerhouse is bringing its Ralph’s Coffee concept to Stanford Shopping Center, with company filings and mall listings indicating the café will take over a tenant space identified in city project materials and is expected to cover roughly 5,200 square feet. If those plans hold, it would be the brand’s first Ralph’s Coffee in Northern California, joining a Newport Beach outpost as the other California location.
The project moved through Palo Alto’s design review process in 2025, with the city’s Architectural Review Board recommending approval of storefront revisions, new signage and an outdoor dining area for the tenant at 180 El Camino Real, Space #383. The board packet and agenda for the Sept. 4, 2025 meeting spell out the proposed façade tweaks and a new entry to an alley seating area, according to Midpen Media.
Ralph’s Coffee first debuted on Fifth Avenue in New York City in 2014, and Ralph Lauren’s site notes that the brand’s blends, including Ralph’s Roast, are roasted and packaged in Philadelphia by La Colombe. The company’s Ralph’s Coffee page also lists existing locations and outlines the concept’s menu approach.
Stanford Shopping Center’s operator is already treating the opening as a done deal. Simon, which manages the mall, lists a Ralph’s Coffee at the property; see Simon for details. Local reporting first flagged the Palo Alto arrival and reported that the spot would be the brand’s ninth U.S. location, with city records putting the space at about 5,200 square feet, per KRON4.
What To Expect
Ralph’s Coffee locations typically lean into an upscale café vibe, pairing espresso and cold-brew drinks with pastries and branded merchandise inside polished interiors that nod to vintage style. The brand’s recent West Coast outpost highlighted artisan tile, outdoor seating and a curated menu, as described in a Ralph Lauren press release.
Neighbors And Hiring
The Palo Alto café is slated to land among some heavyweight neighbors. It will sit in the orbit of Stanford Shopping Center anchors that include Apple and Neiman Marcus, a lineup that helps keep foot traffic steady at the open-air mall. Apple’s store page lists its Stanford Shopping Center location as one of its Bay Area flagships.
Ralph Lauren appears to be staffing up ahead of the opening. A LinkedIn job posting lists a store manager role specifically for Ralph’s Coffee in Palo Alto.
Ralph Lauren has not posted a public opening date for the Stanford Shopping Center café. For now, the project stands as another example of lifestyle brands folding hospitality concepts into high-end retail footprints across the Bay Area, with Palo Alto’s luxury mall serving as the latest test kitchen for that strategy.
