San Antonio police spent Wednesday searching for a woman they say stabbed her husband during an argument on the city's inner west side, leaving the 65-year-old with puncture and laceration wounds that officials described as non-life-threatening. Officers said the man showed up at a hospital on his own, reported the injuries, and pointed detectives to a detached unit behind a home in the 1600 block of West Laurel Street as the scene of the attack.
According to KENS 5, investigators believe the suspect is the victim's 56-year-old wife. Detectives were collecting evidence at the back unit and working to secure a warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The outlet also reported that the couple is in a common-law marriage.
What the possible charge means
Under the Texas Penal Code, aggravated assault applies when a person uses a deadly weapon or causes serious bodily injury. It is typically filed as a second-degree felony that can carry a prison term ranging from two to twenty years. The statute also lets prosecutors seek a more severe charge if serious injury is involved or if the victim is a family or household member.
How to help investigators
Police are asking anyone with information, video, or other tips to contact San Antonio authorities as the search continues. As of Wednesday afternoon, no arrest had been reported, according to KENS 5. Neighbors with home security or doorbell cameras often end up providing key leads in investigations like this, and officers remained on West Laurel Street processing the scene.
