Some Randolph-Brooks Federal Credit Union members around San Antonio woke up on Friday, April 17, 2026, to a nasty surprise on payday. Expected direct-deposit paychecks had not posted, and for many, that meant bills, groceries, and other essentials were suddenly in limbo. The credit union acknowledged the disruption and said it was working to restore service.
RBFCU posts official statement
Randolph-Brooks Federal Credit Union issued an official notice on its website saying it “is aware of a direct deposit issue affecting its membership today” and that it is “actively working to resolve the disruption,” according to RBFCU. The statement includes an FAQ that warns some members may see delays in ACH deposits and urges affected members to sign in to online banking to chat with a representative for assistance.
Local customers report missing paychecks
On the ground, the frustration was immediate as multiple members reported that their direct-deposit pay had not landed and that there was no clear timetable for when things would be fixed, as reported by WOAI. The outlet notes that although RBFCU acknowledged the technical issue, many members still were not sure whether payroll files had already been sent by their employers or were just stuck waiting to post.
Why ACH timing can delay pay
The Automated Clearing House, or ACH, network that moves payroll and benefit payments offers same-day and next-day processing windows. However, individual banks, credit unions, and payment processors decide when to actually post those credits to accounts, so technical problems, vendor issues, or clearing hiccups can slow down when money becomes available, according to Nacha. In practice, that means a delay can start with an employer’s payroll processor, a third-party payments vendor, or the receiving financial institution’s own systems.
What members should do now
RBFCU’s notice directs members to sign in to Online Banking and use the chat feature to reach a Member Service Representative or to call 1-800-580-3300 for help, per the credit union’s release. Members whose employers confirm that payroll files were sent should hang on to pay stubs and any timestamps and then ask RBFCU what temporary options are available to cover urgent expenses while the credit union works to restore normal postings.
