A man remains at large more than a month after police say he physically assaulted an adult woman outside a home in the 3200 block of Wren Brook Drive in New Braunfels, in an attack investigators say unfolded sometime between 2:50 a.m. and 4 a.m. on July 23. No arrest has been made, and detectives are now leaning on the public — and a cash reward — to help identify the man responsible.
According to the KABB report, the New Braunfels Police Department says an unknown male physically assaulted the woman outside during that early-morning window. The attack happened in Quail Valley, a residential subdivision of single-family homes in eastern New Braunfels built primarily in the mid-2000s off Goodwin Road, according to Realtor.com. It is the kind of established suburban street where a predawn assault stands out sharply against the neighborhood's quiet reputation.
Investigators Canvass for Security Footage
Investigators are asking anyone with security camera footage or information about suspicious activity near Wren Brook Drive around the time of the attack to come forward, per the same KABB account. The department has not said whether the woman and her attacker knew each other, and the extent of her injuries has not been detailed publicly. Those unanswered questions matter: under Texas law, the severity of the injuries and whether a weapon was involved will determine what charges, if any, prosecutors eventually pursue.
Under Texas Penal Code § 22.01, assault causing bodily injury is a Class A misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in county jail and fines as high as $4,000. But if investigators determine the attack caused serious bodily injury or involved a deadly weapon, the case could escalate to aggravated assault, a second-degree felony carrying two to 20 years in prison under Texas Penal Code § 22.02.
