A quick stop at a small Seattle convenience store has turned into a $50,000 payday for one lucky Powerball player, state lottery officials say. The winning ticket matched four white balls plus the red Powerball in the April 27 drawing, good for a mid-tier prize. The ticket was sold at a corner market along Seattle’s South Jackson Street corridor, during what has been a busy week of Powerball drawings.
Where the Ticket Was Sold
According to the Tacoma News Tribune, a Washington’s Lottery spokesperson said the winning ticket was purchased at Seven Star Mini Mart in Seattle. Local business listings show the convenience store’s address as 1917 South Jackson St. in Seattle (YellowPages).
Winning Numbers and What They Mean
The winning numbers for the April 27 drawing were 18, 31, 33, 36 and 62, with the Powerball number 3, according to Powerball. Hitting four of the white balls plus the red Powerball lands the player the $50,000 base prize under the game’s payout structure.
Cost, Odds and How to Play
A single Powerball play costs $2, while the Power Play and Double Play options each add $1, per Washington’s Lottery. The odds of hitting the jackpot are about 1 in 292,201,338, the state lottery notes. In other words, you are paying for a tiny shot at a very big pot.
Jackpot Update and Next Drawing
Players in Kansas and Indiana split a roughly $143 million jackpot this week, and Powerball shows the top prize has reset to an estimated $20 million. The next Powerball drawing is scheduled for Saturday, May 2, at 7:59 p.m. PT, according to the national site.
